    Housing Information
    The military provides two options for the use of your Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH). The first option is to live on base. Your second option is using your BAH to rent or buy a home off base. We provide you with a military-friendly information to help maximize your BAH.

    • The Military Housing Office (MHO) (843) 228-6000. Contact the housing office as soon as you know you are moving. You will be provided with the latest information on local housing as well as referral services and relocation assistance. They offer counseling and guidance before entering into a lease agreement and help resolve tenant-landlord disputes.
    NH Beaufort On Base Housing 
    • To find the correct check-in procedure, single service members should view the Welcome Aboard page for contacts listed by rank/MOS. 
    • MCAS Beaufort on-base homes are privatized and operated by Atlantic Marine Corps Communities (877) 749-3724, which offers 2-4 bedroom apartment homes based on rank and family size. The apartment amenities includes: washer/dryer or washer/dryer hookups, carport or garage and A/C. The community features tennis courts, fitness center, swimming pool and playgrounds.

    Surrounding Areas
    Beaufort is a small city in the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton-Beaufort metro area, located in the southern part of the state on Port Royal Island. The hospital itself is between the towns of Port Royal and Beaufort. Nearby residential areas include Burton, Shell Point, Laurel Bay, Lady's Island, and St. Helena Island. These are all within a 30 minute commute of the NH Beaufort. The small towns of Sheldon, Yemassee, and Bluffton; the fastest growing area in the state, are all about a 35 minute drive. Hilton Head, the popular vacation destination, is the island directly south of Port Royal Island. Savannah, Georgia, is the closest major city. It is located 50 minutes southwest of Beaufort and is an old, historic city along the coast. Charleston, South Carolina, another ocean side city, is just 1.5 hours northeast of the hospital.

    About the Installation
    Naval Hospital Beaufort is located in Port Royal, South Carolina and serves nearby Marine Corps bases MCRD Parris Island and MCAS Beaufort. The Naval Hospital has been in operation since 1949 and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. NH Beaufort has two Branch Medical Clinics which include the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, and the Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort. NH Beaufort provides medical, surgical and emergency services to Active Duty Navy and Marine Corps personnel. For more information click here.
